WHEN THE SERVER IS DOWN

Recording Grades Backing Up Grades
Exporting Grades to Registrar Copying Back to the Server

Recording Grades:

You can still do your grades on your computer! The only difference is that you will be working from your C drive (your computer hard disk) instead of E drive (the server.)

1. When you open a class in Grades, it should automatically take you to their location on C.

2. You will get the question "Look for Roster Update?" Say "NO", because you can't access it from C.

3. Everything is done exactly as you have been doing.

4. You do need to copy the location of your grades on the C drive (names of nested folders) in the blanks below in the section "Copying Back to the Server", number 4.

Backing Up Grades:

If you do not already do floppy disk backups, you may want to do it now and save at the end of each day since we don't have the server being backed up each evening.

1. Place the floppy disk into the disk drive.

2. Open a class and go to "File"… "Save Class As"

3. At the bottom of the box is "Drives" and "E" is selected.
     a. Click on the down arrow from the drop down menu to select "A"
     b. You may have to scroll up to see it.

4. Click "OK".

5. Close class.

6. Repeat for each class.

Copying Back to the Server:

The default opening and closing is to the E drive. When the switch is out, you will be rerouted to C drive. When the system is up and working correctly again, your "old" grades will suddenly reappear when you open the class. DO NOT PANIC. You have not lost the interim grades. They are still saved on your C drive.

Follow these directions carefully:

1. Close the class. DO NOT SAVE.

2. Choose "Open Class".

3. At the bottom of the box, change the drive to "C".

4. Open the nested folders "____________________", "_____________________", "_______________________".

5. Open a class, and select "File" … "Save as".

6. The drive selected should be "E", if not, use the drop down box to get the E drive.

7. Click "OK".

8. The message "This file already exists. Do you want to replace it?" should be answered "YES"

9. You just copied your file from the C drive up to the server.

10. Repeat for each class.
